A number of local religious leaders say they are not interested in a piece of pending legislation that would allow places of worship to establish armed security groups. House Bill 786 — titled the Mississippi Church Protection Act — would allow places of worship to establish security programs that authorize designated members to carry firearms “for the protection of the congregation of such church or place of worship.”
